A Natural Cask Strength Lagavulin Islay Whisky. - This is the 2009 edition.
There is a quote from William Black on the front of the label
'The strange Horse of Suinabhal' - by William Black.
'I hef been in Isla more as three times or two times myself, and I hef been close to the 'Lagavulin' Distillery, and I know that it is the clear watter of the spring that will make the 'Lagavulin' Whisky just as fine as new milk'.
From the back of the bottle
From Islay's most famous distillery, this vibrant Lagavulin 12 year old combines the classic smoke and intensity with complex aromas and a delicious sweetness. Add plenty of water - try one part whisky to two parts water - and you may see a slight cloudiness (normal in a non chill-filtered natural cask strength single malt) and catch a whiff of Arbroath smokies, the renowned Scottish smoked haddock dish. It's dry and vibrant on the tongue with masses of smoke, yet also very fragrant - and so sweet!
That surprising sweetness is balanced by fine acidity. The finish is pure Lagavulin, long, firm and smoky-dry. This is a powerful member of the family, with all the refinements of the famous 16 year old and an appealing style all its own.
