Glenlivet 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
Glenlivet 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky. When legalisation of distillers was proposed, George Smith, already an illicit whisky maker, was the first to apply for a licence. his son, John Gordon Smith assisted and succeeded him. After distilling on two different sites, in 1858 the Smiths moved to present location near the confluence of the Livet and Avon. In 1880, the exclusive designation 'The Glenlivet' was granted in a test case. The company remained independent until 1953 when it came under the ownership of Glen Grant. In the 1960's a considerable quantity of the whisky was aquired by Gordon & MacPhail, leading to subsequent bottlings by them. These very old and sometimes vintage-dated versions are identified as George & J. G. Smith's Glenlivet Whisky. This fine George & J. G. Smith Glenlivet is a whisky of structure and complexity, flowery, fruity and peachy.
Matured and Bottled by Gordon and MacPhail, Elgin, Scotland.
