Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own traditional floor maltings and still employs a team of coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to maintain the stills.
The Balvenie Distillery is also especially fortunate in having David Stewart, the longest serving malt master in the whisky industry. His expertise enables him to use different types of cask and different ages of spirit to craft a range of distinctive single malts.
12 Year old DoubleWood is matured in two types of cask - after many years ageing in traditional whisky oak casks it spends its final months in first fill sherry casks.
The Balvenie Signature is an exposition of the traditional art of the malt master, who skilfully marries twelve year old Balvenie from the finest first fill bourbon, refill and sherry casks to create this signature malt.
By contrast fifteen year old Single Barrel is drawn from a single traditional whisky oak cask of a single distillation - each one specially selected by the Balvenie Malt Master
Each of these Single Malts has a very individual taste, but all share the smooth honeyed character of the Balvenie.
